Pani Puri. Common street snack consisting of a round, hollow puri, fried crisp and filled with a mixture of flavored water, tamarind chutney, chili, chaat masala, potato, onion or chickpeas.
Several pani puri vending machines have come and gone over the years. Some seemed cool but failed to gather steam. For instance, this start-to-finish pani puri machine was invented by MIT, Manipal students in 2017. At first, the concept of no-human-hands seemed like a good plan, but considering there has not been much talk about the machine in the last two years, let us just assume that there are some iterations in store.
After all, what is pani puri without the use of human hands to serve them? This machine in question answers all those queries with this quirky little contraption that serves the pani puri water to customers after they are served their pani puris in plates.
According to this report in CurlyTales The vending machine can serve up to five to ten customers at a time and it has a screen at each outlet to keep them entertained while they’re munching on their favourite snack. This model is designed and developed in a way to support Swachh Bharat Mission and is the most hygienic method of having pani puri that saves a lot of water from wastage.
All you have to do is select “Spicy”, “Medium”, or “Sweet” and voila, you have the perfect watery concoction for your puri!
